Version 4.34
- Leading a band no longer keeps your device awake between sets. A leader that had stopped playing kept the processor awake for as long as the band session stayed open - exactly the break between two sets, on the one device you need all evening. It now lets go the moment you stop and takes the CPU back when you start. Your followers stay connected throughout: measured over ten minutes with the leader's screen off and the device in deep sleep.
- Over Bluetooth the band now counts in together. The leader used to begin its own count on its very next tick while telling everyone else to start on the coming bar line, so every other phone counted a full bar late and the next musician came in a bar behind. The leader now waits for the bar it broadcasts, like it already did over Ableton Link. Everyone in the band needs this version. On your own over Bluetooth, start can now wait up to one bar before the count begins - that is the same price Link has always paid.
- Queued and automatic section changes finish the outgoing beat, including its subdivisions, before applying a new time signature or count-in. Natural stops and backing-track transitions finish the final beat. The next backing track is prepared while the previous one is still playing.
- Selecting another song while paused updates the title and tempo sent to band followers. Use the current app version on all band devices for aligned natural stops. Manual Stop remains immediate.
- Band followers receive in-song count-ins and the leader's queued next cue. Visual and spoken cues respect pauses between songs and fermatas.
- Band meter changes keep the intended beat over Bluetooth; Link messages also carry the timing grid so a follower can recover after missing an update.
- Names in the old single-preset format survive conversion to sections. Matching names already converted to Room can be recovered once from the retained migration snapshot; new untitled songs stay untitled.
- Export gives untitled songs unique placeholder names even when an existing song uses that name, so re-import does not merge them.
- The beat bars follow the accents of the currently playing meter-cycle step.
- Explicit song-library names are preserved when saving and editing. Ambiguous older "Default" names are kept.
Version 4.33
- While you follow the band, your phone now shows what the leader shows. The song and section they are on, and what is coming next, sit under the tempo in the same place and the same size as on the leader's phone, so a glance across the stage tells you both the same thing. The tempo controls are hidden while you follow, because the leader owns the tempo - the beat bars stay full size.
- A phone waiting for the band no longer shows a song it is not being sent. A leader who had stopped, or who had left their setlist, kept broadcasting the last section title, so followers displayed a song that was not playing. Stopping now clears it. The pause between two songs still keeps the title, because there the song really is still the current one.
- Being in a band session no longer keeps your screen awake by itself. Keep screen on now means what it says: the display stays awake while something is actually playing or a setlist is paused, and a phone waiting for the leader sleeps normally and wakes the moment the leader starts. Until now every phone in a session stayed lit for as long as the session lasted with nothing playing, the leader's included.
- The beat bars are about 15% shorter throughout the app.
Version 4.32
- The example workbook behind the info button next to Import works again. Saving it worked, but importing it back always failed with an error - and so did every other Excel (.xlsx) or SetlistMaker (.sml) file. A security setting added to the spreadsheet reader asked the Android XML parser for something it does not support, which made every one of those imports fail before it read a single row. CSV files were never affected.
- Importing a song list into the song library no longer blindly duplicates titles. When a title already exists in the library or occurs more than once in the file, SyncPulse asks what to do with every collision: skip it, replace the earlier version, or add it as "Title (1)".
- The song library can now export its song table as CSV or Excel, in the same interchange format as a setlist. The screen clearly marks this as an export rather than a full backup: backing tracks, PDF/image chord sheets and some app-only settings are not included.
- The song library also got Delete all songs, behind two confirmation screens because there is no undo. Your setlists keep their own copy of every song, so they stay untouched.
- The song library screen itself is clearer: New song and Import are labelled buttons instead of nameless icons, the song count is readable, and the info button now hands you the example file too.
- On the setlist screen the previous/next song arrows moved to either side of the START/STOP button, the same place they have in the chord-sheet view. That frees the whole top block: the song title now gets the full width and two lines instead of a strip squeezed between two buttons, "Next:" sits right under it and is bigger, and the block as a whole is a lot shorter, so more of your set stays in view.
- The glow around the BPM number is gone. It was being clipped at the edges of the block, and on stage the pulsing halo mostly pulled your eye away from the beat bars that carry the same information.
Version 4.31
- The band now counts in together. When the leader presses start, every device begins the count on the same bar line, so you hear one shared 1-2-3-4 instead of one phone starting halfway through a bar and the song landing off the downbeat. Everyone in the band needs this version for it to work - a phone on an older build still counts in on its own.
- Because the count now waits for the shared bar line, there can be up to one bar of silence between pressing start and the first count - that is the price of starting on the band's grid. On your own, without other devices in the session, nothing changes.
- Chord sheets can scroll along with the music. Switch on auto-scroll and a ChordPro sheet moves with the bar you are playing, following the sections of the song rather than a fixed speed. Swipe and it stops dead, without springing back; resume and it returns to where the music actually is. A manual or open-ended section simply waits until you move on. PDFs and photos are unchanged for now, and the whole thing is optional.
- The chord-sheet viewer and the live setlist screen now speak the same language: one title notation ("Section (Title)"), and the performance info sits in a fixed bottom panel instead of floating over your sheet.
- Nothing jumps in above the beat bars during a count-in any more, so the song list stays where it is. While counting in, the section line reads "Count-in: 3" and the line under it points at the section that is about to start.
- Adding a chord sheet now has an info button that spells out what you can drop in - typed or pasted ChordPro, a PDF, or photos of a page.
- Starting a band session over Bluetooth no longer risks two leaders at once. The app listens for a few seconds first and lets you choose if somebody is already leading.
- Big beat bars in a setlist is a new option under Display. While a setlist plays the beat bars stay small so the song list keeps its place; switch this on and they grow while you play, like they do on the metronome screen - a little less tall, and only as far as the screen has room for. Off by default.
Version 4.30
- The play notification now returns you to SyncPulse when tapped and disappears when standalone playback stops. The main screen no longer reserves space for stage setup; an active band connection is shown compactly instead.
- Setlists can now be saved locally as CSV or Excel as well as shared. The import help offers a ready-to-use example Excel file, and song and section editors use a clearer field order with shorter chord-sheet labels.
- Backing tracks and instant song switching now live under Setlists > Performance settings > Playback. Settings cards use consistent spacing, with help available directly on Audio offset and Footswitch.
- Sections can change tempo while they play. Open a section, and under the bar count you can set a closing tempo: the click slows down (ritardando) or speeds up (accelerando) towards the end of the section, and the last beat lands exactly on the tempo you typed. Want the rit. only in the last two bars of the outro? Set it to run over two bars and the rest of the section stays put.
- A section can end on a fermata. Switch it on and the click holds on the last beat until you press play again - overlay, footswitch or the Start button - so the band can hang on a chord and come back in together.
- Odd-meter songs no longer need one section per bar. A meter cycle repeats a sequence of time signatures, one per bar - 7/8 + 4/4, or a 7+7+11 cycle - and the click switches on the bar line. The underlying pulse stays the same, so the eighth note does not change speed when the cycle moves from 7/8 into 4/4.
- All three settings travel with the song: they survive saving, copying into another setlist, and CSV/Excel export and import. In band mode a section still plays its fixed tempo and time signature.
Version 4.29
- Your screen no longer goes dark in the middle of a rehearsal. While the metronome or a setlist is running, the display stays awake instead of hitting your phone's screen time-out and locking. Keep screen on sits under Settings > General and is on by default; stop playing and your phone sleeps as usual.
- Switch songs instantly is a new option under Settings > Controls. Normally a song jump waits for the current bar to finish and then counts you in; with this on, the next or previous song takes effect the moment you press it, at the new tempo, on a fresh downbeat and with no count-in. Section navigation inside a song is unchanged.
- The previous/next song arrows are noticeably bigger while a setlist is running, so you can hit them from behind a kit without aiming.
Version 4.28
- Setlists can be renamed, exported and deleted again. The three-dot button at the end of a setlist row in the Hub brings back all three; they had gone missing when the Hub was simplified.
- Exporting writes your setlist as CSV or Excel and hands it to your usual share sheet, so you can mail it to a bandmate or keep a backup.
- The import button now has an info button next to it that spells out exactly how to lay out a spreadsheet or text file, with a worked example. Plain .txt tables were always accepted; now the app says so.
Version 4.27
- Spreadsheets with your own column names now import too. If SyncPulse does not recognise the headings, it asks which column is the tempo, the time signature and so on, instead of just saying it could not read the file.
Version 4.26
- Click volume above 100% now explains itself. A short line under the control tells you that this range is boost and can add grit or distortion, and screen readers announce the same thing.
- The tempo, volume, overlay opacity and audio offset sliders now save when you let go, instead of on every frame while you drag. On slower phones the thumb no longer springs back to its old value.
- Rotating your tablet, or returning after Android has cleaned up the app in the background, now keeps you on the screen you were on — including an unsaved song edit in the editor.
Version 4.25
- Chord-sheet zoom, panning and the read-only follower view now have device-level regression coverage, reducing the risk of viewer regressions on future Android versions.
- The Google Play presentation has been refreshed to reflect SyncPulse as the complete stage tool it has become: metronome, setlists, chord sheets, backing tracks, band sync and MIDI in one flow.
Version 4.24
- Tighter click timing. Every beat is now placed on its exact output sample instead of being rounded to the start of the next audio buffer. On phones with a large audio buffer that rounding could shift a beat by several milliseconds, and by a different amount each time — the part you could hear as a slightly unsteady click. Measured on a Samsung S20+, the remaining variation is 0.11 ms.
- Exporting a setlist to CSV or Excel now keeps your chord sheets. The sheet text travels in its own column and comes back when you import the file again. Files exported by older versions still import as before.
Version 4.22
- The in-app sheet viewer now keeps performance information and controls in a fixed bottom panel for both leaders and followers, so they never cover the sheet or PDF. The floating pill remains available outside the viewer.
- Band sync protocol upgrade: this version can no longer sync with older SyncPulse builds. Update everyone in the band to this version before you play together — the band panel will tell you if someone hasn't yet.
- Pairing the SyncPulse Device companion now shows the discovered devices and asks you to pick the right one, instead of connecting to whichever one answers first.
Version 4.21
- Pressing forward on the overlay no longer skips a song: one press now moves to the next section, not the one after it.
- Bluetooth sync fixed: a follower could end up receiving nothing at all, because a setlist or chord sheet being sent could push the timing signal out of the queue. The click now always has priority.
- A Bluetooth device that isn't the leader no longer keeps ticking at the tempo of an earlier song.
- The chord-sheet button is always there when the song has a chord sheet — no setting to switch on first. The old switch now means "open the chord sheet as soon as the setlist starts".
- Transposing works per song. If the chord sheet declares a key and the song's first section has one, the sheet is shown in that key, and the +/- buttons move every section of the song by the same amount — so your setlist, the Live screen and the rest of the band all follow. A modulation inside one section belongs in the chord sheet file itself.
- The transpose buttons moved to their own row, away from the next/previous song buttons, and are bigger.
- The setlist settings are reachable again: auto-advance has its own button next to the lock on the Live screen and keeps working with the stage lock on, and the gear beside it opens the Setlist & band hub for the rest.
- While following, the setlist mirror now highlights the section the leader is on, not just the song — and turning the song title off no longer blanks that mirror for the rest of the band.
- Chords no longer disappear behind the lyric under them at smaller text sizes.
Version 4.20
- Band followers can now see the leader's chord sheet, kept in sync automatically as it's picked or edited.
- Chord sheets support display-only transposition — view the sheet in another key without changing the saved sheet.
- Export a chord sheet through the system share sheet, and jump directly to the next or previous song from inside the sheet viewer.
- A dedicated Sheet music section in the setlist Hub, with an on/off switch for the live chord-sheet entry and a text-size slider with a live preview.

- Chord sheets: attach a chord sheet to any song in the setlist editor — paste/type a ChordPro-style chord sheet, or pick a PDF or one or more photos of a page.
- Pasted chord-sheet text reflows to any screen size and adjustable font size, with the chord staying above the right syllable.
- View a song's chord sheet fullscreen from the Live screen, with tempo/beat/section always visible and start/stop and section jumps without leaving the sheet — the screen stays on while it's open, and it switches automatically at a song change.

- Swiping the app away while band mode is active now properly stops the metronome and removes its notification, instead of leaving it running in the background.

- Band sync over Bluetooth: a follower joining a session now immediately adopts the leader's current tempo and settings instead of briefly waiting for the next update.
